What wildlife and safety precautions should I know about?
Black bears and grizzly bears are present. Bear-proof caches are provided at all designated backcountry campsites and must be used at all times. Other wildlife includes moose, deer, mountain goats, caribou, waterfowl, beaver, and otter. Firearms, crossbows, and bear bangers are prohibited; pepper spray is permitted only if labeled 'for bear use only.'
