Le Gandiol (ou Gandiole ou Ganjool) est ,historiquement, un terroir du Sénégal situé sur la Grande-Côte, un peu au sud de Saint-Louis, non loin de l'embouchure du fleuve Sénégal. Depuis 2014, avec l'adoption de l'Acte de 3 de la décentralisation, c'est une commune à part entière.
Le parc national de la Langue de Barbarie (PNLB) est l'un des six parcs nationaux du Sénégal. Il est situé à une vingtaine de kilomètres au sud de Saint-Louis du Sénégal vers l'embouchure du fleuve Sénégal.
La réserve de Guembeul est une réserve naturelle privée du Sénégal, située à 5 km au sud de Saint-Louis, en direction de Louga.
