Vollbüttel ist ein Dorf in Niedersachsen. Es gehört zur Gemeinde Ribbesbüttel im Landkreis Gifhorn. Circa 1 Kilometer östlich vom Ortskern fließt die Vollbütteler Riede. Der Ort wurde im Jahre 1284 erstmals als Volmeresbutle erwähnt. Damals hatte er etwa 100 Einwohner. Das Großsteingrab von Rethen wurde 1995 beim Tiefpflügen entdeckt. Es befindet sich im niedersächsischen Rethen im Landkreis Gifhorn, nördlich von Braunschweig. Bei der Freilegung stellte sich heraus, dass die drei ausgepflügten Findlinge die Reste eines Großsteingrabes sind. Dies ist das erste entdeckte Großsteingrab im Landkreis Gifhorn, obwohl schriftlich verschiedene überliefert sind.
