Philipsburg is a town in and the county seat of Granite County, Montana, United States. The population was 841 at the 2020 census. The town was named after the famous mining engineer Philip Deidesheimer, who designed and supervised the construction of the ore smelter around which the town originally formed. He platted the townsite in 1867.

The Granite County Jail, located on Kearney St. in Philipsburg in Granite County, Montana, was built in 1896. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Granite is a ghost town in Granite County, Montana, United States, three miles east of the town of Philipsburg. Granite thrived as a silver mining town in the 1890s and is now completely deserted. The state of Montana maintains the mine superintendent's house and the ruins of the union hall as Granite Ghost Town State Park.
