Historic Rush Creek Campground

The Clay County Savings Association in Liberty, Missouri, was robbed on February 13, 1866, making it one of the earliest documented daylight bank robberies. The robbers escaped with at least $60,000 (equivalent to $1,319,000 in 2025) and killed a bystander outside. The robbery is believed to have been conducted by a group of former Confederate guerrillas, possibly led by Jesse James or Archie Clem

Nebo Hill Archeological Site is a prominent former river bluff located in Liberty, Missouri. It has one of the highest elevations in Clay County. One source states the hill is named after the family who owned the property in the 1900s, while according to another source the name is a transfer from Mount Nebo in Jordan.

The Liberty Arsenal, known by Federal authorities as the Missouri Depot was a United States Army arsenal at Liberty, Missouri in Clay County, Missouri. The depot was seized twice by Southern partisans, once during the Kansas troubles in 1855, and again shortly after the outbreak of the American Civil War. It was located generally west of the junction of Missouri Route 291 and old 210 Highway.
