The hall is of various builds as successor to a 15th-century timber-framed courtyard house that was built near to the present building, of which no trace remains. It is a private residence.

The land and building are owned and managed by Chorley Council. The Pike Tower is a prominent local landmark located below the summit, it is part of Lever Park. The area is popular with hill walkers and for mountain biking.
