Hauhungatahi is an eroded andesitic volcano at the southern end of the Taupō Volcanic Zone in New Zealand, located about 12 kilometres (7 mi) north–west of Mount Ruapehu. Although relatively little-known, at 1,521 metres (4,990 ft) Hauhungatahi is one of the highest volcanoes in New Zealand, exceeded in elevation by only Ruapehu, Taranaki/Egmont, and the Tongariro massif.
