Shire Eco Safari Camp is an eco-tourism lodge located in Malawi's upper Shire River plain, adjacent to Liwonde National Park. The camp offers three types of accommodation: rustic bamboo chalets with en suite facilities, a dormitory sleeping twelve, and camping with shared facilities. Guests can experience guided game drives through Liwonde National Park (2.5 hours), boat safaris on the Shire River aboard the Glen Morengie (observing hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds), and astronomy viewing with a computerized telescope. The camp is owned and operated by Malawians and features on-site dining, a lounge, campfire areas, and an observation hut. Solar power technology is used throughout the property. (via official site)
