Die Burg Lauenstein ist eine mittelalterliche Höhenburg auf 550 m ü. NN über der oberfränkischen Ortschaft Lauenstein, einem Gemeindeteil der südöstlich davon gelegenen Stadt Ludwigsstadt. Mit ihrer Lage im Norden des Landkreises Kronach ist die Burg, deren älteste Teile auf das 12. Jahrhundert datiert werden können, die nördlichste Burg Bayerns.
Der Ratzenberg bei Lauenstein (Ludwigsstadt) ist ein 678 m ü. NHN hoher Berg des Frankenwalds und war schon von alters her Grenzregion des oberfränkischen Landkreises Kronach in Bayern zum Thüringer Schiefergebirge im Landkreis Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, Thüringen (Deutschland).
