Whangaiterenga Campsite
Whangaiterenga is a basic Department of Conservation campsite in Coromandel Forest Park's Kauaeranga Valley, located where the Whangaiterenga Stream meets the Kauaeranga River. Situated 5 km north of the Kauaeranga Visitor Centre (14 km from Thames), it is one of nine campsites in this river valley system, accessible via gravel road. The campsite offers basic facilities including pit toilets but no showers; water from streams requires boiling or treatment. It is popular with trampers and hikers accessing valley walks, including Edward's Lookout.
